Our Story
We are conveniently located in Springfield saving our customers time and making a trip to the hardware store or lumber yard a breeze. We specialize in selling building supplies and have our own lumber yard. Brain Lumber Company consists of a Do It Best hardware store with reliable products. Our services are always available and consistent. In addition to our Do It Best hardware store, Brain Lumber Company has multiple lumber sheds, a workshop for milling, a sash and door department, stylish kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and speedy delivery service.
Our History
Brain Lumber has a rich and storied history dating back to 1868 when it was first established by a group of four men, including brothers William and George Brain. Originally known as Brain-Simpson Lumber, the company provided top-quality lumber and building materials to the growing community of Springfield, Ohio and the surrounding area. Over the years, the business passed down from generation to generation, becoming George Brain & Sons in 1889. And finally, in the 20th century, it was renamed as Brain Lumber Company, reflecting the commitment to providing the highest level of service to their customers.
Our Owner
Brant Cornelison has a deep appreciation for the history of Brain Lumber and considers himself to be a part of it. He has a strong connection to the store, which was a second home for him during his teenage years. As the new owner of Brain Lumber, he values the history of the store and is dedicated to preserving it. Brant’s ownership of Brain Lumber not only represents his personal history with the store, but also continues the legacy of the Brain family and the store’s rich heritage.
